NON-QUORUM (INTERNATIONAL) STUDENTS

Schedule
  • a. First semester application (New students in March)
    National Institute for International Education, Overseas Koreans Foundation, KHU President Scholarships, and their own expense
    Application period: From the early November to the late December every year
  • b. Second semester application (New students in September)
    National Institute for International Education, Overseas Koreans Foundation, KHU President Scholarships, and their own expense
    Application period: From the early May to the late June every year
Eligibility
  • a. Master’s degree program and Integrated Master’s and Ph.D. degree program
    Someone who meets one of the following conditions:
    1. ① Students with foster care determined by the ordinance of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology
    2. ② Foreign students whose parents are both foreigners
    3. ③ Korean nationals residing abroad or foreigners who have completed in foreign countries all the educational
          programs equivalent to Korean elementary/middle/high schools and college/university
      Someone who have received (or expect to receive by the day of admission) a Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university either in Korea or overseas
      Someone whose educational attainments are authorized by the Law to be equal to or higher than No. 1
  • b. Ph.D. degree program
    Someone who meets one of the following conditions:
    1. ① Students with foster care determined by the ordinance of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology
    2. ② Foreign students whose parents are both foreigners
    3. ③ Korean nationals residing abroad or foreigners who have completed in foreign countries all the educational
          programs equivalent to Korean elementary/middle/high schools and college/university
      Someone who have received (or expect to receive by the day of admission) a Master’s degree from a graduate program either in Korea or overseas
      Someone whose educational attainments are authorized by the Law to be equal to or higher than No. 1
Screening process
Document screening - Interview (and practical exam if necessary): To be carried out by the Department
Documents to be submitted
  • a. One "Application for Admissions" form, including two photos of the passport photo size
  • b. One official copy of the certificate of degree and graduation from the last educational institute (Graduates from
        Chinese universities must submit the certificate of graduation and degree issued by the Chinese Embassy.)
  • c. One official transcript from the last educational institute (Applicants to a Ph.D. degree program should submit the
        transcripts for undergraduate and graduate programs as well.)
  • d. One copy of study plan in Korean (in KHU form)
  • e. One letter of reference for international students (in KHU form) written by a professor of the graduate program to
        which the applicant applies
  • f. One letter of reference from a professor of the undergraduate or graduate program from which the applicant has
        graduated
  • g. One copy of the passport and one copy of alien registration (for those who are already in Korea)
  • h. One copy of the official registration card and the certificate of kinship (resident registration)
        For Chinese applicants:
    1. 1) if they live separately from their direct family members, they must submit the resident registrations of all the
          direct family members and the certificate of kinship issued by related police Departments or public offices;
    2. 2) if their parents have passed away, they must submit the certificate of death.
  • i. The certificate of Korean Language Proficiency Test or the diploma of Korean language program (of 6 months or longer)
  • j. One copy of the applicant’s or her/his direct family’s bank certificate of balance, or the certificate of incoming remittance
       (equivalent to or greater than USD 10,000)
  • k. Applicants must submit a bank certificate of balance and a copy of bank statements to show bank transactions,
       when the applicants are finally accepted to the program l. Other documents or materials that the Dean of Graduate
       School requires
  • ※ If the certificates of (expected) graduation and the transcripts are written in other languages than English, please submit
        their officially authenticated Korean translations in addition to the original documents.
  • ※ Scholarship students (such as Korean Government Scholarship Program) must submit the certificate of scholar ship from
        the institute or the foundation.
Application procedures
Applicants shall submit the application documents to the Graduate Studies Director of the Department, pass through the screening process, attach the “admission recommendation,” and present them to the graduate school.
Entrance into Korea and the university

Attention
Applicants can be disqualified, even after their admission has been granted, if any fraud in their application materials or any quality against the university regulations is found.
Application documents are not returned at all.
The application process after the receipt of applications follows the graduate admissions procedures regardless of the application procedures for the natives (Koreans)
