ACADEMIC AFFAIRS BY SEMESTER AND PROGRAM
- First semester in Master’s degree program

- a. Class registration (up to 9 credits)
- Everywhere to access the internet: Register courses online (KHU hompage KHUIS)

- Changes in class registration cannot be made except for the class change period.
- A class cannot be registered twice.
- After having checked the class registration confirmation notes at the Department, you cannot change class registration. (Class registration confirmation notes are delivered to the Department automatically.)
- Those students whose undergraduate Department is not the same Department of the Master’s degree program but a Department of similar or different majors must take 9 credits or more for lower-level (undergraduate) courses in addition to the regular coursework.
- These extra credits do not count for the course credits registered. Extra-credit class registration is a separate process from regular class registration.

- b. Foreign language exams (There is no limit to the number of taking foreign language exams.)
- Students can take foreign language exams from the first semester.
- Students submit the foreign language exam applications to the graduate school, and
- Take the exam on the specified date and at the specified place.
- Students can be exempt from taking foreign language exams, if they take alternative language courses and step the specified procedures.
- c. Assignment to academic advisors
- Based on Article 48 of the university regulations and Article 21 of the graduate school bylaw 5, students must be assigned to academic advisors related to their major subjects at the end of the first semester.

- a. Class registration (Up to 9 credits)
- The same as class registration of the first semester
- Students must register thesis credits. (two thesis credits apart from the course credits)

- a. Class registration (on the basis of 6 credits)
- The same as class registration of previous semesters
- Students must register thesis credits. (two thesis credits apart from the course credits)
- b. Qualifying exams
- Students cannot take qualifying exams until they complete 18 credits or more (prerequisite credits excluded).
- Exam applications and exam taking follow the procedures of the Department.
(The Department organizes the grades of qualifying exams into a table and submits it to the graduate school.)- Qualifying exams include written and oral tests in three or more subjects determined by the Department.
(Students can pass qualifying exams in each subject separately.)

- Fourth semester

- a. Class registration
- The same as class registration of previous semesters for those who have not completed the required course credits yet
- If a student has completed 24 or more course credits and wants to submit the thesis in the semester, the student must register the open presentation (thesis research 3) to get thesis credits.

- Based on the detailed enforcement regulations (Article 27) and the bylaws (bylaw 13, Article 38 and 39), students
who have applied for the open presentation must inform the KHUGNEWS or the Daehak Jubo of the date and
place before they present their theses.- The presentation period is determined by the graduate school.
- Students who have passed the open presentation and are given thesis credits by their advisors must submit the results to the graduate school.
- Students can submit their thesis within 5 semesters after the pass in the open presentation.
- Based on the detailed enforcement regulations (Article 27) and the bylaws (bylaw 13, Article 38 and 39), students
- c. Thesis evaluation
- After having received thesis credits for the open presentation, students must submit three copies of the thesis for the evaluation purpose to the Department by the time the graduate school specifies.
- Students shall submit the following documents to the graduate school.
A form of approval of submission of a Master’s degree thesis
A photo of 3x4 (cm) size- Students shall pay the thesis evaluation fee.
- d. Submission of thesis
- Students who have passed the thesis evaluation must submit 8 copies of thesis that comply with the size and format for degree theses and the disk that contains the thesis files to the library, and submit one copy of thesis with the signed certification to the graduate school, within the period specified by the graduate school.

- Change of the thesis advisors
- If students want to change their thesis advisors, the students must get the advisor change applications, have the statement of reasons for the advisor change handwritten by both the prior advisor and the succeeding advisor with their confirmation seals on it, submit them via the Department Chair to the graduate school, and get approval by the Dean of the Graduate School.
